Three Weeks. Three Powerful Causes. Lions International’s 2026–2027 Weeks of Service
Lions Clubs International has a long tradition of focusing collective energy around the causes that matter most. For the 2026–2027 Lions year, that tradition takes the form of three dedicated Weeks of Service — one for each of three global priorities. For clubs in District 201N1, these weeks represent a ready-made framework for planning high-visibility, high-impact activities that connect local effort to a worldwide movement.
Vision Week — 8 to 18 October 2026
Opening eyes. Changing lives.
Vision has been at the heart of Lions service since the very beginning, and Vision Week kicks off the service calendar for the new Lions year. From 8 to 18 October 2026, clubs are encouraged to promote eye health and support sight-saving initiatives both in their own communities and beyond.
For District 201N1 clubs, this is a natural moment to promote programs such as the Lions Eye Health Program Children’s Vision Screening Program, support Recycle for Sight Australia collections, or partner with local optometrists and health services to raise community awareness about preventable vision loss. Even simple activities — a display in a local library, a social media campaign, or an information stall at a community event — can make a tangible difference when Lions clubs across the country act together.
Youth Week — 13 to 21 February 2027
Empower today. Lead tomorrow.
In the new year, attention turns to the next generation. From 13 to 21 February 2027, Lions are called to invest in young people through service, mentorship, and programs that build brighter futures.
Youth Week is an ideal time for clubs to engage with local Leo Clubs, Lions Quest programs, and youth mentoring initiatives. It is also an opportunity to raise the profile of the Lions movement among younger community members — both as beneficiaries of Lions service and as potential future members. Activities might include school visits, youth leadership workshops, or supporting local youth groups and sporting teams.
Environment Week — 29 May to 6 June 2027
Protect today. Preserve tomorrow.
The service year closes with a focus on the environment. From 29 May to 6 June 2027, clubs are encouraged to take action to care for the planet through sustainability, conservation, and clean community initiatives.
Tree planting, park clean-ups, creek and beach restoration activities, and waste reduction campaigns all fit naturally within this week’s theme. For clubs already involved in Lions’ Green Canopy program or other environmental projects, Environment Week provides excellent public momentum to build on.
Why these weeks matter
Weeks of Service are about more than calendar entries. They provide clubs with a shared focus that aligns local service with the broader Lions International agenda, making it easier to generate media coverage, attract new volunteers, and demonstrate to the community the breadth of what Lions stand for. When thousands of clubs around the world act on the same theme in the same week, the cumulative effect is far greater than the sum of its parts.
