🌟 Celebrating Peace Through Art in District 201N1

The Lions International Peace Poster Contest continues to be one of the most uplifting youth projects supported by Lions clubs across District 201N1. Each year, students aged 11–13 are invited to express their vision of peace through creativity, imagination, and symbolism. For 2026, the theme “Harmony in Humanity” invites young artists to explore how kindness, respect, and cultural understanding can shape a more peaceful world.

The contest encourages students to imagine “a world where people of every culture and background live together peacefully – celebrating differences, finding common ground and creating true harmony in humanity.”

🎨 Theme for 2026: Harmony in Humanity

This year’s theme asks young people to reflect deeply on what brings humanity together. The guidance provided to clubs and schools emphasises that “when we treat each other with respect and kindness, peace can flourish.”

Students are encouraged to explore ideas such as:

  • Celebrating cultural diversity
  • Building bridges between communities
  • Showing empathy and compassion
  • Finding unity in shared values

These concepts often emerge powerfully in the artwork produced across our District.

🏅 District Judging at the 2026 Convention

The District Convention in Taree will once again host the official judging for 201N1. All submitted posters will be displayed, giving Lions, partners, and visitors the opportunity to appreciate the creativity and insight of our young participants.

This public display has become a highlight of Convention, showcasing the positive impact Lions have in schools and communities across northern NSW.

🤝 How Clubs Can Participate

Clubs play a vital role in the success of the Peace Poster Contest. Typical involvement includes:

  • Contacting local schools and youth groups
  • Providing Peace Poster kits (available from Lions Australia National Office)
  • Sharing the theme and guidelines with teachers
  • Supporting students with materials or presentations
  • Hosting a club‑level judging event
  • Forwarding the winning poster to the District Chair by the due date

Many clubs also choose to recognise participants at meetings or community events, strengthening relationships with families and educators.

🌏 Why the Peace Poster Contest Matters

The contest gives young people a voice at a time when global issues can feel overwhelming. Through art, they express hope, empathy, and a desire for unity—values that align closely with the Lions mission of service.

For Lions clubs, it’s an opportunity to:

  • Build meaningful partnerships with schools
  • Promote peace and understanding
  • Encourage youth leadership
  • Celebrate creativity within the community

The Peace Poster Contest remains a powerful reminder that peace begins with understanding—and understanding begins with listening to young people.
